Jinbei officially joins the Straw Hat Pirates in episode 980 of the One Piece anime during the Wano Country arc. However, Luffy had already acknowledged Jinbei as a member of his crew earlier, around episode 876, after the events of Whole Cake Island and Fish-Man Island, but Jinbei delayed officially joining due to prior commitments with his former crew, the Sun Pirates, and needing to cut ties with Big Mom's pirates first. Jinbei eventually becomes the Straw Hats' helmsman and the tenth member of the crew during the raid on Onigashima in Wano.
