Canada's 2025 federal election for the House of Commons, which will determine the Prime Minister, was held on April 28, 2025. Although under fixed-date provisions the election was originally scheduled for October 20, 2025, a snap election was called by Prime Minister Mark Carney, and the Governor General dissolved Parliament on March 23, 2025, setting the election date for April 28, 2025. This election was to elect members to the 45th Canadian Parliament, and the leader of the party that wins the most seats typically becomes the Prime Minister.
