Ghost of Yotei is set in the year 1603, during the beginning of the Edo period in Japan, in the land of Ezo, which is present-day Hokkaido. This is about 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The game follows Atsu, a wandering mercenary seeking revenge in a land where many ronin have fled to live outside Japan's strict feudal rule.
As for the release date, Ghost of Yotei launched on October 2, 2025. It became available at midnight local time in each country, with some regions like the US West Coast getting access a few hours earlier on October 1 late evening.
