International Cat Day is celebrated annually on August 8. It was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. This day is dedicated to raising awareness for cats and learning about ways to help and protect them. The celebration encourages various activities such as volunteering at cat shelters, visiting cat cafés, donating to cat charities, and simply spending quality time with cats. In 2020, custodianship of International Cat Day passed to International Cat Care, a British organization focused on improving cat health and welfare worldwide. The next International Cat Day in 2025 falls on Friday, August 8.
