Krishna Janmashtami in 2025 will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16. It marks the 5252nd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. The festival falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada according to the Hindu lunar calendar. Although there is some sectarian variation, with some starting observances late on August 15, the main celebrations and the auspicious midnight puja (Nishita Puja) take place on August 16, from about 12:04 AM to 12:47 AM IST, which is considered the time of Krishna's birth.
