when was acetaminophen first used

Acetaminophen was first synthesized in 1878 by Harmon Northrop Morse. It was first used to treat pain and fever in humans in 1893 by Joseph von Mering. However, it did not come into widespread clinical use until the 1950s, when it was marketed as Tylenol Elixir for Children around 1950-1955.
