This Bondi Beach attack is described as the second‑deadliest mass shooting in Australian history, after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania, which left 35 people dead. It has also been reported as the deadliest terror incident in Australia and one of the deadliest attacks on Jews outside Israel in recent decades.
