Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) was the 32nd president of the United States. He served as president from March 4, 1933, until his death on April 12, 1945. He was elected to four terms as president in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944, making him the only U.S. president to serve more than two terms. His presidency spanned the Great Depression and most of World War II, and he was inaugurated for his third and fourth terms on January 20, 1941, and January 20, 1945, respectively. Roosevelt died early in his fourth term in April 1945.
