The first moon landing occurred on July 20, 1969. The Apollo 11 mission, conducted by NASA, landed the Lunar Module Eagle on the Moon at 20:17 UTC. Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface about six hours later, at 02:56 UTC on July 21, 1969, followed by Buzz Aldrin 19 minutes after.
