The first Penn State White Out took place in 2004 as a student section event during the game against Purdue. It started with just the students wearing white to generate excitement for the team during a down year. This initial White Out was limited to the student section and was later expanded to include the entire stadium in 2007 during the game against Notre Dame. Since then, the White Out has become a full-stadium tradition and one of college football's most iconic events.
