This treaty was signed in San Francisco and officially ended the state of war between Japan and the Allied Powers following World War II. It marked the end of hostilities, ended the Allied occupation of Japan, and restored Japan’s sovereignty. The treaty was signed by Japan and representatives from 48 other nations. This treaty also led to Japan giving up claims to various territories and accepting the rulings of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.
