YouTube was created on February 14, 2005, by three former PayPal employees: Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. The idea of the platform was formalized and the company YouTube, Inc. was officially registered on that date. The first video was uploaded later on April 23, 2005. YouTube was launched to the public on December 15, 2005, gaining rapid popularity soon after.
