Trains were invented in the early 19th century, with the first steam-powered railway train built by British inventor Richard Trevithick in 1804. His steam locomotive powered the first-ever steam train, marking a significant development in rail transport history. Following that, in 1825, the Stockton and Darlington Railway in England opened using steam locomotives, with George Stephenson running his steam locomotive named Locomotion No. 1 on this line. This event is often considered the beginning of modern railways. Stephenson's later locomotive, the Rocket, launched in 1829, further convinced many of the value of steam locomotives. The first railroads in the United States and other parts of the world soon followed in the 1830s and 1840s.
