Samoans are the Indigenous Polynesian people originally from the Samoa Islands, an archipelago in the central South Pacific Ocean. The main islands of Samoa are Upolu and Savaiāi, with other inhabited islands such as Manono and Apolima. There is also American Samoa, a smaller nearby territory. Samoans have a rich cultural and historical heritage linked to the early Polynesians, believed to have settled the islands around 3,000 to 3,500 years ago, migrating from Southeast Asia via Island Melanesia.
