The majority of the Dead Sea Scrolls are currently held in the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. They were discovered in caves near Qumran along the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea in the West Bank. The collection includes thousands of manuscript fragments, with nearly 15,000 scrolls and fragments mostly preserved there. The Israeli government's custody of the scrolls is disputed by Jordan and the Palestinian Authority, but the principal repository remains the Israel Museum. Additionally, some scrolls and related artifacts are occasionally exhibited internationally, such as the recent displays at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in the United States, where several scrolls were shown through September 2025.
