You can inject Wegovy (semaglutide) subcutaneously (under the skin) in any of the following areas:
- Upper arms (back or side)
- Stomach (abdomen), keeping at least 2 inches or about 5 cm away from the belly button
- Front or side of the upper thighs
It is important not to inject into veins, muscles, or areas with scars, stretch marks, bruises, hard or tender skin, or discoloration. You should rotate injection sites each week, using different spots within the same area or switching between the approved areas to minimize irritation and ensure consistent absorption
. Before your first injection, a healthcare provider can demonstrate the proper technique and help you select the best injection sites for you. The injection should be given by pressing the pen firmly against the skin until the dose is fully delivered, which is indicated by the pen's yellow bar stopping
. If you have difficulty reaching or seeing certain areas, such as the upper arm, you may ask someone to assist you with the injection
