In Oblivion, you can store items safely in several places, especially in Oblivion Remastered:
- Owned Houses: Buying a house is the most reliable long-term storage. The cheapest early option is the Imperial City Shack in the Waterfront District, which costs about 2,000 gold. You buy it from Vinicia Melissaeia at the Office of Imperial Commerce and then upgrade storage by purchasing home plans from Three Brothers Trade Goods. Owned houses have containers that do not reset, making them safe for permanent storage
- Jauffre's Chest at Weynon Priory: Early in the game, after delivering the Amulet of Kings, Jauffre unlocks a chest next to his desk that you can use for storage. However, this chest becomes inaccessible after progressing past the Kvatch Oblivion Gate quest because of a Mythic Dawn attack
- Sacks: Any container labeled "Sack" is safe for permanent storage. These are scattered around the world and free to use, but you must remember their locations or mark them on your map
- Hollowed-Out Tree Stump in the Imperial City Market District: A hidden, permanent storage container located behind Rindir’s Staffs shop in a small garden alley. This stump is a convenient and secret stash spot right in the city center, ideal for storing valuable or heavy items
- Roxey Inn Room: Completing the "Zero Visibility" side quest grants access to a safe storage room at the Roxey Inn north of the Imperial City. The drawers there work like house chests and keep items safe permanently
- White Stallion Lodge: After completing a quest chain in Leyawiin involving Mazoga the Orc, you gain access to the White Stallion Lodge, which can be used to store items safely
These options provide a mix of free and paid storage solutions, suitable for early and late game. For quick access and no cost, the Hollow Tree Stump and sacks are excellent. For guaranteed permanent storage, buying a house or using Jauffre’s chest early on is best
