Jane Goodall was born and lived in London, England, and later grew up in the English coastal town of Bournemouth. As an adult, she lived and worked in Tanzania, specifically at Gombe Stream National Park, where she conducted her famous chimpanzee research starting in 1960. She also lived in other parts of Tanzania including Dar es Salaam and Ndutu during her conservation work. Later she had a home in London as well. Throughout her life, Goodall split her time between the UK and Tanzania, where much of her scientific and conservation work was based.
