Kamala Harris attended several institutions for her higher education:
- She first attended Vanier College in Montreal for one year (1981–1982).
- She then transferred to Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington, D.C., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics in 1986. While at Howard, she was active in student government, the debate team, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority
- After Howard, she returned to California to attend the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now called the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco), where she earned her Juris Doctor (JD) degree in 1989. During law school, she served as president of the Black Law Students Association
Thus, Kamala Harris's college education includes Howard University for undergraduate studies and UC Hastings College of the Law for her law degree.
