Pope Leo XIV attended high school at St. Augustine Seminary High School in Holland, Michigan. This was an Augustinian preparatory seminary school that operated from 1949 until 1977. He was part of the class of 1973 and was noted for his academic excellence and leadership roles there, including being editor-in-chief of the yearbook and president of his senior class
. Before high school, he attended St. Mary of the Assumption parish school in Chicago. After graduating from St. Augustine Seminary High School, he went on to study mathematics at Villanova University and later pursued divinity and canon law studies
