Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, received his education primarily in the United States. He attended St. Mary's parish school in Chicago during his childhood, then went to St. Augustine Seminary High School in Holland, Michigan, a preparatory institution run by Augustinian Friars. After high school, he studied Mathematics at Villanova University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He then returned to Chicago to pursue theological studies at the Catholic Theological Union, where he obtained a Master of Divinity degree. Later, he completed a doctoral degree in canon law at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1982 during his advanced studies in Rome
