The fourth plane on September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a rural field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, about 20 minutes flying time from Washington, D.C. The plane crashed at 10:03 a.m. after passengers attempted to regain control from the hijackers. It is believed the hijackers intended to target the US Capitol or the White House in Washington, D.C., but the passengers' intervention prevented this.
