The Kansas City Chiefs originally started as the Dallas Texans, an American Football League (AFL) team founded by Lamar Hunt that began play in 1960 in Dallas, Texas. The franchise moved to Kansas City in 1963, changed its name to the Chiefs, and has been based in Kansas City, Missouri ever since.
