The series "Monster: The Ed Gein Story" was primarily filmed in Momence, Illinois, which stood in as the small town setting for the story. Filming took place in historic downtown Momence and some residential areas in February and March 2025. Additionally, some scenes were filmed in the village of Saunemin, Illinois, as well as in Los Angeles, California, and the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. These locations were used to recreate the 1950s rural Wisconsin environment where Ed Gein's story actually occurred. The production also included scenes shot in Kankakee County and Livingston County, Illinois.
