The Indus River originates from the Tibetan Plateau near Lake Mansarovar. The Ganga River has its origin in the Gangotri Glacier in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Specifically, the Ganga is known as the Bhagirathi at its source from the Gangotri Glacier and becomes the Ganga after joining the Alaknanda River at Devprayag in Uttarakhand.
