Siamese cats originate from Thailand, historically known as Siam, and are linked to the royal courts of that region. The breed’s distinctive pointed coloration and features are tied to lines that traders and breeders documented back to ancient times, with early references appearing in Thai manuscripts such as the Tamra Maew (The Cat Book Poems), which is believed to date from between the 14th and 18th centuries. Over time, Siamese cats were exported and standardized by Western breeders in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, leading to the modern breed recognized worldwide today.
