Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who went into hiding with her family in Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation in World War II. After being discovered in August 1944, Anne and her family were arrested and deported to concentration camps. Anne and her sister Margot were sent to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died of typhus in February 1945. Anne's mother died in Auschwitz concentration camp, and only her father survived the Holocaust. After the war, Anne's father returned to Amsterdam, where the hiding place—the Secret Annex—was turned into the Anne Frank House museum.

Currently, Anne Frank is not alive, having died in 1945. Her legacy lives on through her diary and the museum in Amsterdam that preserves the place where she and her family hid.

There is also a 2021 animated film titled "Where Is Anne Frank," which is a fictional story about Anne's imaginary friend Kitty coming to life in present- day Amsterdam, exploring Anne's legacy.
