Antigua is an island in the Caribbean, specifically part of the country Antigua and Barbuda. It is located in the Lesser Antilles within the Leeward Islands group. Antigua lies approximately 1,000 miles east of Jamaica, about 250 miles southeast of Puerto Rico, and about 40 miles north of Guadeloupe. The island covers an area of around 281 square kilometers (108 square miles) and is the most populous island of Antigua and Barbuda. The capital city of Antigua is St. John's, situated on the northwest coast. Antigua and Barbuda is situated between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean in the eastern Caribbean region.
