Apical meristem is found at the growing tips (apices) of plant stems and roots. Specifically, it is located at the shoot apex (tip of the stem) and the root apex (tip of the root), where it is responsible for primary growth by producing new cells that increase the length of these organs. Sometimes, apical meristems can also be found in growing tips of leaves and buds. This tissue consists of actively dividing, undifferentiated cells that contribute to the elongation of roots and shoots, thus increasing the height and depth of the plant
