Armenia is a landlocked country located in the South Caucasus region, part of the Armenian Highlands in West Asia. It lies between the Caucasus Mountains and Asia Minor, bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and Azerbaijan's exclave of Nakhchivan to the south. The country covers an area of about 29,743 square kilometers (11,484 square miles) and is mostly mountainous, with Mount Aragats being its highest point at 4,090 meters (13,419 feet) above sea level.
