Bonaire is a Caribbean island located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of the Venezuelan coast. It is part of the Leeward Antilles and a special municipality of the Netherlands. Bonaire is one of the ABC islands, along with Aruba and CuraƧao, situated in the southern Caribbean Sea. Its capital is Kralendijk, located on the west coast of the island. Bonaire is approximately 24 miles (38.6 kilometers) long and 3 to 7 miles (5 to 8 kilometers) wide, with a total land area of about 111 square miles (288 square kilometers). The island features an arid climate and is known for its natural beauty, particularly as a top destination for snorkeling and scuba diving due to its coral reefs and marine parks.
