where is dapto

Dapto is a suburb of Wollongong located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. It lies on the western side of Lake Illawarra and covers an area of about 7.15 square kilometers. Dapto is approximately 79 kilometers south of Sydney and had a population of around 10,954 as per the 2021 census. It is a largely residential area with commercial facilities including a shopping mall called Dapto Mall, and it is known historically for the dairy industry and smelting works. The suburb also features recreational areas like Mount Brown Reserve and waterfront activities on Lake Illawarra.
