where is downton abbey

Downton Abbey is primarily filmed at Highclere Castle, which is located in the Hampshire countryside, about 70 miles outside London, England. Highclere Castle serves as the exterior and also the location for most of the interior upstairs scenes of Downton Abbey. Additionally, the fictional village of Downton is represented by the real village of Bampton in Oxfordshire, where several key scenes were shot, including those at St Mary's Church and Bampton Library.
