On the Nepalese side, it is situated in the Solukhumbu District within Sagarmatha National Park, and on the Chinese side, it lies in Tingri County of the Tibetan Plateau. The geographic coordinates of the summit are approximately 27°59′N latitude and 86°55′E longitude. Everest is the highest mountain in the world with an official height of 8,848.86 meters (29,031.7 feet).
