How to Check Your New Jersey State Refund Status Online
- Visit the official New Jersey refund status website: https://www16.state.nj.us/TYTR_TGI_INQ/jsp/prompt.jsp
- Enter your Social Security number, the refund amount as shown on your tax return, and select the tax year.
- Submit the information to see your refund status

- Call the automated refund system at 1-800-323-4400.
- Alternatively, call 609-292-6400 to speak with a representative during business hours
When to Check
- If you filed electronically, wait at least 4 weeks after filing before checking.
- If you filed a paper return, wait at least 12 weeks before checking.
- Returns requiring manual review may take longer regardless of filing method
If You Did Not Receive Your Refund Check
- Use the Undeliverable Refund Search service on the NJ Division of Taxation website to see if your check was returned and to request re-mailing
- For lost, stolen, or destroyed checks, call 609-292-6400 to request a replacement.
- For expired (stale-dated) checks, mail the original check with a replacement request letter to NJ Division of Taxation, PO Box 266, Trenton NJ 08695-0266
