Nipigon, Ontario, is a township located in the Thunder Bay District of Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is situated along the west side of the Nipigon River, south of Lake Nipigon, and at the northernmost community on the Great Lakes. Nipigon lies approximately 120 kilometers northeast of the city of Thunder Bay and is positioned on the north shore of Lake Superior. The town is accessible via Highway 11/17 and is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreational activities, and cultural heritage. Nipigon also serves as a service center for the North Shore region, with a population of about 1,473 people as of 2021.
