Padua is a city located in the Veneto region of northern Italy. It lies on the banks of the river Bacchiglione, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of Venice and 29 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Vicenza. Padua is the capital of the province of Padua and the third-largest city in Veneto with a population of approximately 207,694 as of 2025. It is a significant economic and communications hub in the area and forms part of the Padua-Treviso-Venice Metropolitan Area.
