Paradise, California is an incorporated town located in Butte County in the Sierra Nevada foothills, above the northeastern Sacramento Valley. It lies about 10 to 12 miles east of the city of Chico and approximately 85 to 90 miles north of Sacramento. The town sits on a wide ridge between canyons formed by the west branch of the Feather River and Butte Creek, with elevations ranging from around 1,500 to 2,800 feet above sea level. Paradise covers an area of about 18.3 square miles, with predominantly land terrain. It is known for its natural beauty, including pine forests, oak groves, and rolling hills, as well as a climate characterized by hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. The town was severely impacted by the 2018 Camp Fire but has been rebuilding since then, with a population of around 9,000 residents as of late 2023. Paradise is relatively close to other small communities such as Magalia and Stirling City to the north and is part of the Chico Metropolitan Area.
