Shohei Ohtani is from Oshu (formerly Mizusawa), in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. He was born on July 5, 1994, in Mizusawa, which is now part of the city of Ōshū. He grew up in that region before rising to prominence in Nippon Professional Baseball and later MLB.
