Stonehenge is a prehistoric megalithic monument located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. It is about 2 miles (3 km) west of the town of Amesbury and roughly 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury. The site is situated on rolling chalk downland known as Salisbury Plain, around 90 miles (144 km) from Central London. Stonehenge is surrounded by a dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments and is one of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom.
