The provincially owned portion of Ontario's Highway 407, specifically Highway 407 East from Brock Road in Pickering to Highway 35/115 in Clarington, has been toll-free since June 1, 2025. This means drivers can use this section of the 407 without paying tolls. However, the majority of the highway, known as the 407 ETR (Express Toll Route), which stretches from Burlington to Brock Road in Pickering, remains a privately leased, tolled highway. Some drivers also have access to special promotions allowing free use during certain times, but generally, only the provincially operated eastern segment is completely toll-free now.
