The adductor muscles are located in the medial compartment of the thigh, along the inner side of the thigh. They mainly originate from the front of the pelvis (pubic and ischial bones) and insert onto the medial posterior surface of the femur. The group includes the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, gracilis, and pectineus muscles. These muscles function to adduct the thigh at the hip joint—meaning they pull the thigh toward the body's midline.
