where is the inguinal region

The inguinal region, also known as the groin, is located in the lower portion of the anterior abdominal wall. It is situated superior to the thigh, lateral to the pubic tubercle, and inferomedial to the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) on each side of the body. This region marks the junction where the abdomen meets the thigh and contains important anatomical structures including the inguinal canal and lymph nodes. The inguinal canal runs obliquely in this region from the lower abdomen into the medial part of the proximal thigh. In summary, the inguinal region is anatomically the area in the lower front of the abdomen just above the thigh and near the pelvis, commonly referred to as the groin.
