The United Nations headquarters is located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. The complex is situated on 17 to 18 acres of land bordered by First Avenue to the west, East 42nd Street to the south, East 48th Street to the north, and the East River to the east. This international zone is under the sole administration of the United Nations, despite being physically in the U.S. The headquarters includes several buildings such as the Secretariat, Conference, and General Assembly buildings, along with the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. The site has been the official UN headquarters since its completion in 1952.
