Typhoon Ragasa, the most powerful tropical cyclone of 2025 so far, made landfall over Hailing Island in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, southern China on September 24, 2025. After striking southern China, Ragasa has weakened to a severe typhoon equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane and is expected to continue weakening as it moves inland towards Vietnam. The typhoon had earlier impacted the northern Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, bringing intense winds, heavy rain, flooding, and casualties. Nearly 2 million people were evacuated in southern China as precaution due to its approach.

Currently, Ragasa is moving inland from southern China, having passed major cities including Hong Kong and areas of Guangdong province.
