How to Combine Archon Shards in Warframe

You combine Archon Shards using the Helminth Coalescent Segment , a special upgrade for your ship’s Helminth chair. Once installed, it unlocks a fusion menu where you can merge two basic shards (Crimson, Amber, or Azure) into a new color-Topaz, Emerald, or Violet-with unique stat bonuses.

Prerequisites

Before you can fuse shards, you need to complete a few steps:

  • Finish the Veilbreaker quest – This rewards the base Helminth Archon Shard Segment, letting you install shards in the first place.
  • Unlock Sanctum Anatomica – Progress through the Whispers in the Walls quest to access this area on the Chrysalith.
  • Earn Rank 2 with Bird 3 – Run bounties in Sanctum Anatomica to raise your standing with the Cavia syndicate. At Rank 2, Bird 3 sells the Helminth Coalescent Segment blueprint for 30,000 standing.
  • Craft the segment – The build requires 50 Stela, 5 Echo Voca, 5 Inlaid Horns, 25 Necro Coils, 50,000 credits, and 24 hours (or 50 Platinum to rush).
  • Install it – Once crafted, go to your Orbiter’s Helminth chair, select “Segments,” and install the Coalescent Segment.

How Fusion Works

With the segment installed:

  1. Sit in the Helminth chair and open the Archon Shards tab.
  1. Click the Coalescent Fusion button (looks like two shards merging) on the right side of the UI.
  1. Choose two unslotted shards of the same “tier” (regular with regular, Tauforged with Tauforged).
  1. Confirm the fusion. It costs 50 Stela per fusion and is permanent-you can’t undo it.

Fusion Recipes

Shard 1| Shard 2| Result
---|---|---
Crimson (Red)| Amber (Yellow)| Topaz (Orange)
Crimson (Red)| Azure (Blue)| Violet (Purple)
Amber (Yellow)| Azure (Blue)| Emerald (Green)

Tauforged versions follow the same recipes but require Tauforged inputs and produce Tauforged outputs.

What You Can’t Do

  • You cannot fuse already-combined shards (Topaz, Emerald, Violet) into anything new.
  • You cannot mix regular and Tauforged shards in the same fusion.
  • Fusion is one-way only ; there’s no way to split a fused shard back into its components.

Where to Get Shards to Fuse

If you’re short on shards, run:

  • Archon Hunts (weekly rotations)
  • Netracells in Sanctum Anatomica
  • Deep/Temporal Archimedea missions
  • The Hex calendar (1999 content)

These activities drop both basic and Tauforged shards, giving you plenty of material for fusion once you’ve unlocked the system.
