Iryna Zarutska was stabbed multiple times on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. Specifically, she was stabbed three times, including at least once in the neck, while riding on the Lynx Blue Line train. The attack happened after she boarded the train at the East/West Boulevard light rail station and took a seat in front of the assailant. The stabbing occurred suddenly when the attacker pulled a pocket knife and stabbed her over the seat where she was sitting. She was fatally wounded on the train and pronounced dead at the scene.
