Only Fools and Horses was filmed primarily in two main locations:
- From 1981 to 1988 (Series 1-5), filming took place mainly in West London, specifically Acton. Harlech Tower, Park Road East, Acton was the exterior for Nelson Mandela House, the iconic tower block featured in the show titles. Other London locations included Chapel Market and various parts of North London.
- From 1988 onward (Series 6-7 and later specials), filming shifted to Bristol in the West of England. Whitemead House, Duckmoor Road, Bristol was used as the Trotter's high-rise home. Many outdoor scenes were filmed around Bristol city center including Backfields in St Paul's, Broadmead, and other notable sites such as Ashton Gate stadium car park.
Though the sitcom was set in Peckham, Southeast London, it was rarely filmed there. Some specific episodes also had scenes filmed in other locations like Margate, Hull, Holland, Miami, and others. So, the core filming locations were West London (Acton and other nearby spots) for the early series and Bristol for the later years of Only Fools and Horses.
