The movie "Kandahar" was filmed entirely in Saudi Arabia. The primary filming location was AlUla, a northwestern region known for its stunning desert landscapes and home to Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra. Additional filming took place in Saudi cities Jeddah and Riyadh. AlUla's diverse natural scenery and historical sites offered authentic backgrounds for the movie's setting, and this film marked the first major Hollywood production to shoot extensively in this region since Saudi Arabia lifted its cinema ban in 2018.
