The Titanic was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard located on Queen's Island, Belfast, Ireland. This shipyard was specifically equipped with large slipways and graving docks to accommodate the construction of the Olympic- class liners, including Titanic. The construction began with the keel laid down on March 31, 1909, and the ship was launched on May 31, 1911, after which it was fitted out before its maiden voyage in 1912. Harland and Wolff was a major shipbuilding company in Belfast, known for building some of the largest and most luxurious ships of the time.
